MAIN PURPOSES
Lead and manage the Amman Intersectional Office to deliver efficient, harmonized and strategic support services across MSF Operational Centers, ensuring high-quality operational support and advancing mutualisation in line with MSF’s global strategy.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Head of Amman Intersectional Office provides strategic leadership and overall management of MSF’s shared office in Amman, a key hub supporting multiple Operational Centers. The role ensures effective service delivery across HR, finance, logistics and administration while promoting harmonization and mutualisation. It drives strategic planning, governance alignment and organizational development to strengthen the office’s long-term sustainability.
The position represents the office internally and externally, supports collaboration across MSF entities, and ensures compliance with legal, financial and security frameworks. It also plays a key role in fostering a coherent, collaborative and high-performing intersectional environment.
TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and implement the strategic vision and long-term planning of the Amman Office aligned with MSF and Operational Centers’ priorities.
- Lead and coordinate planning, budgeting and reporting processes to ensure transparency, accountability and performance monitoring.
- Oversee and optimize the overall functioning of the office, ensuring efficient delivery of shared support services (HR, finance, logistics, administration).
- Drive and advance the mutualisation process by harmonizing policies, systems and ways of working across participating entities.
- Manage and develop teams by recruiting, leading and evaluating staff in line with MSF values and organizational standards.
- Ensure compliance with legal, fiscal and administrative frameworks, safeguarding institutional integrity and risk management.
- Represent and position the Amman Office in internal governance and external networks to strengthen collaboration and influence.
- Ensure and oversee security management of the intersectional office, guaranteeing staff safety and aligned security practices.
ROLE’S SPECIFIC ELEMENTS
- Leads a complex intersectional platform supporting multiple MSF Operational Centers and hosted entities.
- Operates within a shared governance model involving a multi-OC Steering Committee.
- Drives organizational transformation towards a single harmonized support structure.
- Manages a diverse and evolving portfolio of services and hosted functions.
- Acts as a key enabler of collaboration across MSF sections and regional platforms.
- Oversees a strategic hub supporting regional and global operations
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Minimum 6 years in senior management roles (field and/or HQ).
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong financial and budget management experience.
- Solid understanding of MSF international structure.
- Security management experience
- Experience in intersectional or harmonization initiatives.
- Experience in Middle East context
- Essential: Fluent English. Desirable: Arabic
CONDITIONS
- Position based in Amman.
- Duration of position: 3 + 3 years (mandated position) in Full time.
- Subjected to Amman local conditions.
- Starting date: OCTOBER
