GENERAL CONTEXT
Médecins Sans Frontières is an international independent medical-humanitarian organization, which offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.

MAIN PURPOSE
Ensure the successful delivery of ethical AI adoption initiatives defined in OCBA’s strategic roadmap, aligning them with organizational objectives, ethical principles, and operational priorities.
JOB OVERVIEW
The AI Adoption Project Manager leads the execution of projects related to responsible AI adoption within MSF OCBA, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing the full lifecycle of strategic initiatives. The role includes planning, oversight of technology standards and governance, risk and resource management, and facilitating organizational change to ensure AI solutions deliver real value to the humanitarian mission, improving decision-making, operational efficiency, and medical quality without compromising humanitarian principles.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN TASKS
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of AI initiatives defined in the roadmap, ensuring alignment with OCBA’s strategic orientations.
- Define and safeguard the scope of AI projects to address real humanitarian and operational needs.
- Build and operationalize the AI implementation pipeline, ensuring continuous intake, prioritization, and delivery.
- Coordinate and oversee delivery of technology standards, governance frameworks, training activities, and AI risk/compliance structures.
- Manage transversal deployments (e.g., ai.msf.org) and complex/custom pilots in field environments, in collaboration with technical focal points and key stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment and mutualization with intersectional AI projects, representing OCBA in international and TIC forums.
- Contribute as subject-matter Project Manager to global AI initiatives when relevant, safeguarding local priorities.
- Drive change management, staff engagement, and adoption processes in collaboration with HR and functional areas.
- Plan and control schedules, budgets, and resources, maximizing impact and sustainability.
- Select and coordinate suppliers and third parties, ensuring compliance with MSF standards on ethics, quality, and data protection.
- Identify and manage AI-specific risks, opportunities, and issues, enabling safe innovation.
- Monitor and report performance, compliance, and value delivered, ensuring transparency and good governance.
ROLE’S SPECIFIC ELEMENTS
- Active participation in international AI working groups.
- Coordination of transversal deployments and complex pilots in field environments.
- Continuous interaction with operational, medical, financial, and information security areas.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Academic background: An advanced degree in computer science, engineering, business management or a related field, or equivalent additional experience.
- Minimum 5 years working with business applications or digital solutions, of which at least 4 years in project management related tasks.
- Demonstrated experience working in technology, data, or AI-related projects; experience in AI adoption or digital transformation is a strong asset.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and working in matrix environments.
- Prior MSF experience, especially in the field, is considered a strong advantage.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required; French is an asset.
- Good understanding of AI concepts, benefits and risks, and modern digital tooling.
- Proven ability in soft skills key for project management, especially in change management, stakeholder management, team management.
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable messages.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile – Scrum, Hybrid, etc.).
CONDITIONS
- Position based in any MSF-OCBA Hub: Amman, Bogotá, Dakar, Nairobi, Barcelona, Bilbao, Sevilla or Madrid. Final location will be subject to the employability of the preselected candidate (e.g., residency, work permit, etc.).
- Full-time position.
- Annual gross salary: level HQ-4A (divided in 12 monthly payments) + secondary benefits based on MSF OCBA Reward Policy.
- Duration of position: permanent position.
- Starting date: As soon as possible.
