DIGITAL MARKETING OFFICER (POSITION BASED IN LISBON OFFICE)

PT

Full Time
Fundraising

Do your skills and experience not precisely match the requirements? MSF-OCBA is an organization committed to promoting diversity and equity by providing equal access to professional opportunities. We understand that women, people of colour, indigenous individuals, members of the LGTBI+ community, and other underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply for employment if they don't meet all the requirements. At MSF-OCBA, we strive to create a diverse, inclusive, and genuine workplace. Therefore, if you're interested in this position but your experience doesn't align perfectly with the selection criteria, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the ideal candidate for this or other positions.

ABOUT THE ROLE
At Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), digital is a critical channel for engaging the Portuguese public, acquiring new supporters and generating sustainable income that enables MSF to respond independently to humanitarian needs around the world.

We're looking for a highly analytical, proactive and performance-oriented Digital Marketing Officer to own the continuous development and optimisation of MSF Portugal's digital fundraising programme, with a strong focus on growth, experimentation and measurable results.

Reporting to the Mass Donations Manager, you will be responsible for planning, managing and optimising digital fundraising activities across the full digital ecosystem, with a hands-on role in operating key channels, including paid media, website and donation journeys, email marketing, lead generation, conversion and digital supporter journeys.

Working within the strategic direction defined by the Mass Donations Manager, you will take ownership of programme planning, campaign development, channel management, performance optimisation and operational delivery. You will be expected to identify opportunities and performance constraints, formulate hypotheses, test new approaches and use data to continuously improve acquisition, conversion, engagement and fundraising income.

This role combines digital marketing, performance management, growth and experimentation, customer journey optimisation, analytics and project management. Working closely with Fundraising Systems & Analytics, Donor Lifecycle, Communications, Finance and external agencies and suppliers, you will help build effective digital experiences that turn interest in MSF into meaningful action and sustainable support.

Previous fundraising experience is welcome but is not essential. Many of the skills required for this role are directly transferable from digital marketing, performance marketing, e-commerce, customer acquisition, CRM, marketing automation, lead generation, conversion optimisation and other data-driven commercial environments.

HOW WE WORK
Fundraising at MSF is a professional, fast-paced and highly data-driven environment. Although our purpose is humanitarian, we operate with the same level of professionalism, accountability and performance focus found in high-performing commercial organisations.

We make decisions based on evidence rather than assumptions. We continuously monitor results, analyse audience behaviour, test new approaches and use evidence to improve performance.

Digital fundraising is a particularly dynamic area, requiring constant learning, experimentation and adaptation. Success in this role comes from curiosity, ownership, analytical thinking, strong growth and experimentation mindset and and focus on results.
We expect you to translate performance insights into testable hypotheses, prioritise opportunities based on evidence, and continuously learn from what works and what does not.
Every improvement in our digital activity — from reaching the right audience, to improving a landing page, increasing conversion or strengthening a donor journey — contributes to MSF's ability to raise more sustainable income for medical humanitarian action.
