GENERAL CONTEXT 

Médecins Sans Frontières is an international independent medical-humanitarian organization, which offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.

MAIN PURPOSE 

The purpose of the role is to design and manage a comprehensive Rewards System and policies across all staff segments within OCBA, to ensure alignment with organizational needs and contribute to intersectional initiatives. 

 

JOB OVERVIEW 

The Head of Rewards Unit leads the strategic development and implementation of OCBA’s rewards framework, ensuring consistency, equity, and alignment with MSF’s global HR vision. The role supports regional units, advises leadership, and manages a team of Rewards Advisors. It also plays a key role in intersectional initiatives, representing OCBA’s interests and ensuring harmonization across MSF entities. 

 

RESPONSABILITIES AND TASKS 

  1. Design and Strategy: Lead the design and adaptation of OCBA’s Rewards System and policies aligned with organizational goals.  
  2. Policy Alignment: Ensure internal reward policies across regional units align with OCBA’s overarching rewards framework. 
  3. Project Contribution: Support OCBA’s involvement and sometimes lead in global projects.   
  4. System Monitoring: Propose, monitor, and report on KPIs related to rewards, identifying risks and challenges. 
  5. Stakeholder Support: Provide expert guidance and influence to directors and HR teams on reward structures and decision-making. 
  6. Tool and Procedure Development: Create and implement tools, guidelines, and procedures for effective rewards management. 
  7. Training and Capacity Building: Design and facilitate training/workshops related to rewards. 
  8. Change Management: Actively participate in managing change initiatives linked to rewards. 
  9. Intersectional Coordination: Ensure OCBA’s positioning is consistently represented and aligned in intersectional meetings and collaborations and actively contribute to coalition‑building and strategic alignment across sections. 
  10. Team Leadership: Manage and coordinate the Rewards Unit team. 
  11. Resource Management: Oversee the unit’s human and financial resources in line with MSF protocols. 
  12. Strategic Planning: Develop long-term strategies for global workforce rewards and collaboration with the team. 

 

ROLE´S SPECIFIC ELEMENTS 

  • Active participation in the intersectional initiatives. 
  • Strategic collaboration with intersectional HR platforms. 
  • Ad-hoc travel required, including outside Europe. 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA 

  • Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field is required.  
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical HR role focused on Compensation & Benefits (C&B), Rewards or related areas.  
  • Previous experience with Médecins Sans Frontières, either in HQ or in the field, is essential. Previous experience in MSF country programmes will be considered a strong asset.  
  • Proven experience in HR management and team leadership, including planning, coordination and people development responsibilities.  
  • Strong knowledge of Compensation & Benefits systems, HR strategy and international HR practices.  
  • Familiarity with humanitarian organizations and multicultural working environments is highly desirable. 
  • Fluency in English is required. Spanish and/or French will be considered an asset. 

 

CONDITIONS 

  • Position based in any MSF-OCBA Hub: Amman, Bogotá, Dakar, Nairobi, Barcelona, Sevilla, Bilbao or Madrid. Final location will be subject to the employability of the preselected candidate (e.g., residency, work permit, etc.) 
  • Full time job. 
  • Contract duration:  Permanent.  
  • Annual gross salary: IRP2 Level HQ-4C (divided in monthly payments) + secondary benefits based on MSF OCBA Reward policy. Subjected to local conditions.  
  • Starting date: October 2026.
