GENERAL CONTEXT

MAIN PURPOSE

Develop and support the design and implementation of MSF Tembo’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) framework and mechanisms, strengthening program quality and organizational learning.

 

JOB OVERVIEW

The MEAL Support (Internship) assists Tembo in developing and operationalizing its MEAL framework and monitoring processes. The role contributes to building structured approaches for data collection, monitoring, learning, and accountability across Tembo’s activities. Under the supervision of the Support Officer, the Internship works closely with relevant team members to design tools, processes, and documentation that improve tracking of results and organizational performance. This position is primarily developmental and capacity-building in nature, offering hands-on experience in MEAL system design while supporting Tembo’s commitment to learning and transparency.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN TASKS

  • Contribute to the development of Tembo’s MEAL framework to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, values, and programmatic needs.
  • Support the design and documentation of monitoring systems, indicators, and tools to enable consistent tracking of activities, outputs, and outcomes in collaboration and under supervision of the Tembo Support Officer.
  • Assist in establishing data collection and data management processes to ensure accuracy, reliability, and usability of program data in collaboration with the Tembo Data Analyst.
  • Contribute to the development of accountability and feedback mechanisms about user experience, with a specific focus on field users.
  • Support the integration of learning practices and lessons learned to improve program quality and organizational performance within Tembo team.
  • Prepare and support reporting on MEAL-related findings and processes to ensure clear communication to the Tembo team.
  • Prepare reports and support the development of presentation materials for external stakeholders
  • Coordinate with the Support Officer and relevant team members to ensure coherence and practical application of MEAL processes and reporting across Tembo.

 

ROLE’S SPECIFIC ELEMENTS

  • Internship position with a strong learning and capacity-building focus.
  • Contribution to the foundational development of Tembo’s MEAL framework.
  • Exposure to organizational learning and systems design processes.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Currently studying Communication, Humanitarian Cooperation, Learning & Development, Monitoring & Evaluation, Organizational Learning, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with qualitative and quantitative data collection methods.
  • Interest in the humanitarian sector and/or previous experience in the NGO or non-profit sector.
  • Basic understanding of MEAL concepts and frameworks.
  • Basic data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Solid digital skills (Word, Excel, PPT, Power BI, Mural, SharePoint etc…)
  • Good organizational, analytical and planning skills.
  • English mandatory. Working proficiency in Spanish and/or Arabic and/or French are a plus

 

CONDITIONS

  • Based in Barcelona, Spain.
  • Part-time position (20 hours / week).
  • Conditions will be according to MSF internal “Internship policy” and will be formalized into an “Agreement” signed between MSF and the University detailing duties and obligations of each party.
  • Support package: 1300€ gross per month based on a 40-hour working week (based on the MSF OCBA Internship Policy).
  • Duration of position: 4 to 6 months.
  • Starting date: March 2026.
