GENERAL CONTEXT
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization, that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF Portugal is one of the MSF offices spread across Africa, America, Asia, Australia and Europe, bringing together expertise, financial resources and personnel for field projects.
JOB GENERAL OBJECTIVE
We are looking for a dynamic Mass Donations Manager to support the Head of Fundraising in the development and implementation of the mass donations fundraising strategy which includes donor acquisition, retention, development, and value maximization plans, with a focus on growing reach, engagement and ultimately income, across a range of activities.
Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, you will play a leading and ‘hands on’ role in inspiring and engaging donors to connect with MSF’s work and impact.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES, FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
- Develop and implement the strategy for the overarching Mass Donations portfolio (regular donations, one-off donations, and other), ensuring budget targets are met. This includes donor acquisition, retention, development and value maximization plans with a focus on growing reach, engagement and ultimately income.
- Provide strong leadership and strategic guidance to MSF Portugal’s office in all areas of Mass Donations fundraising and manage, coach, develop, lead and inspire the team to ensure delivery of results.
- Coordinate and manage all Mass Donations fundraising activities from beginning to end, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and MSF’s quality standards to meet target objectives.
- Oversee the development of all Mass Donations fundraising content, ensuring the brand is represented ethically, responsibly and in accordance with the organisations charter and other governing documents, and MSF’s key messages are coherent, consistent and clear across all marketing channels.
- Ensure that all work undertaken meets legislative and regulatory compliance, including GDPR.
- Strengthen fundraising systems and mechanisms that underpin the delivery of MSF Portugal’s strategic goals for Mass Donations.
- Monitor and report to senior management on the performance of all programs of the portfolio, explaining variances and recommending changes to plans where necessary.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other fundraising teams and departments in all matters necessary.
- Actively contribute to the international working groups and communities of practice and attend meetings, webinars and others, to enhance knowledge sharing across the movement.
- Manage and develop successful partnerships with external agencies, vendors, consultants, ensuring best practice across the program and positive contribute to the growth of the fundraising department and the organisation as a whole.
- Keep up to date with sector trends and market developments.
- Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in this post
SELECTION CRITERIA
- BS/MS degree in marketing, business administration or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant and progressively responsible professional work experience in managing a mass donations fundraising programme, or in direct and mass marketing, together with a proven track record of driving income growth.
- Strong experience in managing teams to ensure relevant targets and standards are met.
- Strong experience in managing multi-channel marketing campaigns, both online and offline, including, but not limited to, direct dialogue, telemarketing, direct mail, tv, social media, email marketing.
- Strong experience in income and expenditure budget management, including planning and forecasting.
- Strong experience in working with agencies, suppliers, and partners.
- Proven experience in using performance metrics and KPIs for acquisition, cost-benefit, return-on-investment and life-time value analyses.
- Strong excel and reporting skills with accurate and high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Native level of Portuguese and advanced level of English.

CONDITIONS
- Position based in Lisbon, Portugal
- Contract: Permanent Position (Candidates must meet legal conditions to be immediately hired in Portugal)
- Full time job. 40 hours per week+ Hybrid Teleworking Policy
- Annual gross salary (Level 10): € 36,097.33 + secondary benefits based on MSF Portugal Reward Policy
- Starting: Beginning of April 2025
