GENERAL CONTEXT

MAIN PURPOSE

Provide specialized technical support in medical stock and pharmacy management to MSF OCBA missions, through field deployments and remote assistance, in order to ensure compliant, reliable, and sustainable medical stock systems that support the effective delivery of medical operations.

 

CONTEXT AND GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POST

The role supports MSF OCBA missions by strengthening medical stock and pharmacy management systems through functional assessments, technical implementation, training, and change management. Acting in close collaboration with mission pharmacy and medical and supply coordination teams, the position contributes to the deployment of tools, procedures, and regulatory standards across regular and emergency missions. The role involves frequent field deployments, structured technical interventions guided by Terms of Reference, and close coordination with HQ medical and supply chain stakeholders to ensure sustainability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN TASKS

  1. Assess and evaluate medical stock and pharmacy management systems in missions in order to identify gaps, risks, and priority areas for improvement in compliance with MSF standards and guidelines.
  2. Implement and oversee the deployment of medical stock management tools, systems, and procedures in order to ensure their effective adoption, technical reliability, and alignment with institutional frameworks.
  3. Support mission teams in international medical ordering and stock planning processes in order to ensure accurate forecasting, validated inventories, and clear roles and responsibilities.
  4. Provide technical expertise and hands-on support for stock management systems and digital tools (e.g. Isystock, Inventory App, reporting tools) in order to ensure data quality, system functionality, and operational continuity.
  5. Ensure compliance with Good Storage and Distribution Practices (GSDP) by supporting self-inspections, corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA), and the improvement of warehousing conditions.
  6. Design and deliver training, coaching, and on-the-job capacity building in order to strengthen mission teams’ technical competencies and promote sustainable ways of working.
  7. Support change management and work organization adjustments in missions in order to facilitate the successful and lasting implementation of new tools, processes, or standards.
  8. Capitalize, document, and share learning from field deployments and implementations in order to contribute to continuous improvement, institutional learning, and knowledge transfer.

 

ROLE’S SPECIFIC ELEMENTS

  • Based at home country with frequent field deployments based on clearly defined Terms of Reference (At least 50% of time spent in Field Visits of his/her working time).
  • Strong focus on coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job capacity building.
  • High flexibility and availability for short-notice deployments.
  • Strong interaction with Medical Coordinators, Pharmacy Managers, and Supply Chain stakeholders.
  • Contribution to deployment and evolution of institutional tools and standards (e.g. EPREP, reporting frameworks, digital systems).
  • Contribution to transversal and mission-independent medical supply chain improvement projects.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education and experience

  • Essential degree as Pharmacist (certified).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in pharmacy management with MSF at both project and coordination level, is a strong asset.
  • Experience with stock management, supply chain, GDP/GSP, people management & coaching.
  • Experience in different emergency contexts is an asset.

 

Knowledge

  • Medical stock and pharmacy management in humanitarian contexts, including forecasting (FMC/CMM), international ordering, warehousing, distribution, and emergency stock (EPREP) management.
  • Quality and compliance standards, particularly Good Storage and Distribution Practices (GSDP/GDP), cold chain management, batch traceability, expiry control, and CAPA implementation.
  • Stock management systems and data, including medical inventory software (e.g. Isystock or AKIBA), digital inventory tools, reporting frameworks, and data quality principles.
  • Emergency supply chain constraints and operational adaptation, including rapid deployments, importation challenges, and risk mitigation in unstable and low-resource environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Very good command of Excel.
  • Experience leading, coaching or working with teams in some remote, or security tight context to achieve desired results.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and French.
  • Spanish or Arabic would be an asset.  

 

CONDITIONS

  • Homebased with frequent field visits (at least 50% of the time).
  • Contract duration: until 31st December 2026.
  • Full time position.
  • Annual gross salary: IRP2 level 4 (divided in monthly payments) + secondary benefits based on MSF OCBA Reward policy. Subjected to local conditions.
  • Practical working conditions are as per the MSF-OCBA guideline.
  • Starting date: May 2nd 2026.
