GENERAL CONTEXT  

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian action-driven organization, which offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. The MSF movement is built around six operational directorates supported by MSF’s 21 sections, 24 associations and other offices together worldwide. 

 

MAIN PURPOSE 

Hierarchical coordination and management of mobile logistics and supply chain support to deliver timely, high quality, and context adapted logistics solutions that effectively support countries teams and operational cells. Working closely with Technical and supply units to strengthen the coherence, technical standards, and integrated practices of logistics systems to enhance operational decision making, reinforce countries performance, and ensure consistent, reliable support across MSF operations. 

 

JOB OVERVIEW 

The position provides hierarchical leadership and direction to mobile logistics and supply chain support teams, ensuring their workloads, priorities, and performance effectively support operational needs. While mobile support staff receive their function guidance from technical and supply units, this role ensures strong alignment between both functional and hierarchical lines to guarantee coherent, high quality logistics support. It oversees knowledge management, contributes to departmental planning, and helps strengthen tools, procedures, and training that enhance logistics performance. The role also collaborates closely with operational cells and LogOps leadership to maintain integrated support systems. When required, it facilitates or reinforces field support during emergencies or project start ups to ensure coordinated and timely logistics responses. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN TASKS 

  1. Provide hierarchical leadership and direction to mobile logistics and supply chain support teams. 

  1. Ensure workloads, priorities, and performance of mobile teams effectively meet operational needs. 

  1. Align functional guidance from technical and supply units with hierarchical oversight to guarantee coherent, quality logistics support. 

  1. Oversee knowledge management processes within mobile logistics support. 

  1. Contribute to departmental planning and the development of logistics and supply chain strategies. 

  1. Support the strengthening and improvement of tools, procedures, and training to enhance logistics performance. 

  1. Collaborate closely with operational cells and LogOps leadership to maintain integrated and well‑coordinated support systems. 

  1. Facilitate or reinforce field logistics support during emergencies or project start‑ups to ensure timely and coordinated responses. 

 

OTHER ELEMENTS 

  • Active participation in internal backup systems and annual planning. (Backup of Cell Log Advisors may be required.) 

  • Participation in relevant internal and external meetings as assigned. 

  • Close collaboration with Head of LogOps, Technical Coordinators, and Cell Log Advisors to ensure integrated logistics support. 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA 

  • Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or equivalent professional experience in logistics. 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position. 

  • Previous experience as a Logistics Coordinator, Deputy Logistics Coordinator, Supply Coordinator, or Deputy Supply Coordinator, preferably within MSF or other humanitarian organizations. 

  • Experience in key technical areas such as energy, cold chain, construction, and transport is highly desirable. 

  • Experience in team management and supervision is mandatory. 

  • Fluent in English (mandatory); French and Spanish are desirable. 

  • Knowledge of logistics tools or ERP systems is an asset. 

 

CONDITIONS 

  • Position based in any MSF-OCBA Hub: Amman, Bogotá, Dakar, Nairobi, Barcelona, Bilbao, Sevilla or Madrid. Final location will be subject to the employability of the preselected candidate (e.g., residency, work permit, etc.).    

  • Duration: Permanent/Full-time position. 

  • Annual gross salary: level HQ-4A + secondary benefits based on MSF OCBA Reward Policy. Subjected to local conditions. 

  • Starting date: Mid-May.
