GENERAL CONTEXT
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian action-driven organization, which offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. The MSF movement is built around six operational directorates supported by MSF’s 21 sections, 24 associations and other offices together worldwide.
MAIN PURPOSE
Lead and coordinate all content-related operations within the Tembo Digital Learning Team, ensuring consistent application of standards across translation, production and content management workflows. Own the governance, tools and frameworks that guide Tembo content processes and maintain alignment, quality and continuity across all learning products, including MSF Academy programmes. Oversee capacity planning, resource allocation and cross-team coordination to ensure efficient delivery and consistent quality. Act as final sign-off for all Tembo content before publication.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Digital Content Coordinator manages the content workflows and governance systems that support Tembo learning products. The role designs and maintains the frameworks, tools and standards used for translation, production and content management, ensuring they are applied consistently across all teams. The post holder oversees planning, sequencing and workload management for the full content pipeline, supports alignment across Tembo specialists and intervenes when major operational adjustments or escalations arise. They guide the MSF Academy Officer and other specialists in applying processes and provide continuity support when exceptional operational needs occur.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN TASKS
- Coordination of MSF Academy production and translation activities (50%)
- Prepare and align Tembo’s internal planning for each MSF Academy program, and deadlines, defining the internal steps, sequencing and handovers needed for Instructional design, translation preparation, translation, production and publication. Aligning MSF Academy programme planning with Tembo ways of working and quality assurance processes.
- Assess feasibility and adjust plans when MSF Academy timelines or scopes change, reviewing capacity across reorganising work to maintain delivery quality.
- Identify and resolve internal workflow issues affecting Academy projects, addressing operational risks and implementing internal solutions. Attending MSF Academy meetings for alignment and clarification.
- Acts as an escalation point and support for the MSF Academy Officer for issues relating to strategic changes or quality assurance.
- Supervision of the digital content team (50%):
- Provide leadership and coordination for content-related activities within the Tembo Digital Learning Team, offering guidance, workload management, prioritisation, coaching and performance follow-up for team members working on production, content management, MSF Academy workflows and translation.
- Define, maintain and ensure application of technical frameworks and guidelines including the Publication Process, Content Management Framework, Translation & Production Guidelines, Offline Guidelines and the Knowledge Management System, providing direction and validation to team members responsible for their implementation.
- Oversee translations, ensuring that translation preparation, extraction, outsourcing and follow-up are carried out according to agreed standards, and coordinating or performing selected translation-related tasks when required to maintain continuity and service quality.
- Oversee management of content-related tools, licences and external providers, validating tool.
- Improvements, assessing new solutions and monitoring the work of production and translation vendors together with relevant specialists.
- Ensure coherent content governance across Tembo content, supervising the implementation of the content management framework, guiding decisions on content lifecycle management, metadata strategy, content reuse and alignment with Totara learning space structures. Coordinates any technical change to be implemented with Tembo IT team and with the rest of Digital Learning team when necessary.
- Support stakeholder management and communication, maintaining effective relationships with partners, external vendors and OC teams, and ensuring clear, timely communication around content processes, requirements and expectations.
ROLE’S SPECIFIC ELEMENTS
- Coordinates a cross-functional content team covering production, translation, content management and MSF Academy workflows.
- Ensures unified standards and frameworks are applied consistently across all content-related operations.
- Oversees the pipeline from raw content to final published products, ensuring efficiency and quality.
- Provides escalation support for complex content or translation challenges.
- Oversees management and evaluation of external production and translation providers.
- Ensures alignment between Tembo processes and MSF Academy project planning.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Education and experience
- Degree in digital learning, knowledge management, content management, translation management, communication or a related field.
- Additional certification in project management, content governance or LMS administration is desirable.
- Essential previous experience within MSF or similar international organizations.
- Essential proven experience coordinating production, translation or content workflows in a digital learning environment.
- Essential experience supervising or coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
- Essential experience working with LMS platforms (preferably Totara) and digital learning tools.
- Desirable experience managing external providers and evaluating digital tools.
- Experience working with translators or language service providers, ensuring clarity of deliverables, formats and quality expectations.
- Experience coordinating translation workflows, including preparing materials, tracking progress and managing handovers between translation and production teams.
Skills
- Strong understanding of digital content lifecycle management, translation processes and production workflows.
- Knowledge of metadata strategies, tagging systems and content architecture.
- Understanding of how translation steps interact with production workflows in LMS environments, including sequencing and readiness criteria.
- Familiarity with Totara or other LMS platforms is desirable.
- Understanding of SCORM/ and digital learning standards will be a plus.
- Excellent level of English required. Other languages as French, Spanish or Arabic are highly desirable.
CONDITIONS
- Position based in any MSF-OCBA Hub: Amman, Bogotá, Dakar, Nairobi, Barcelona, Bilbao, Sevilla or Madrid. Final location will be subject to the employability of the preselected candidate (e.g., residency, work permit, etc.).
- Duration of position: Permanent.
- Full-time position.
- Annual gross salary: HQ – 3B + secondary benefits based on MSF OCBA Reward Policy. Subjected to local conditions.
