MAIN PURPOSES
Coordinate and support the deployment and execution of technical projects supporting MSF’s digital learning initiatives. This role manages aspects of technical projects and tracks milestones against set timelines, coordinates with stakeholders, managing, documenting and validating deliverables, and troubleshooting issues.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Tembo Technical Project Coordinator manages multiple technical projects. The role combines project coordination, technical oversight, and stakeholder engagement, translating functional and user needs into practical technical solutions.Working closely with internal teams and external partners, the position supports Tembo’s strategic objectives through effective planning, communication, and a human-centred, solution-oriented approach.
TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Project planning, coordination and management:
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, and dependencies.
- Support definition of project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Track progress, identify risks, and propose mitigation and contingency actions.
- Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for the Deputy Head of Tembo and the Tembo Management Team.
- Ensure timely delivery of agreed outputs in line with quality standards.
- Supervise the Tembo Technical Implementation Officer.
Technical coordination:
- Responsible for the analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of projects.
- Act as focal point for technical coordination between Tembo and other departments’ teams across multiple Tembo partners.
- Support projects such as deployments in low to no connectivity areas, system integration/connection activities, analysis and assessments on new technical solutions.
- Coordinate or contribute to activities such as data mapping, solution architecture analysis and design, pilots and proof-of-concepts, needs assessments, standardization of solutions against interoperability and mutualization criteria.
- Monitor adherence to technical standards, MSF’s operational policies with a particular focus on security and data protection requirements.
- Troubleshoot and escalate issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as a liaison between external teams, internal Tembo teams, and external vendors/consultants, as is relevant, to ensure all parties are aligned and are well informed of the progress.
- Ensure the transition of pilot solutions into operational services by supporting handover documentation and training, support procedures, and lessons learned.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain relationships with all project stakeholders involved in the projects portfolio, either Tembo internal or external, either HQ or field based.
- Work with key partners to understand their needs and translate them into clear project scopes and technical requirements for development of solutions.
- Work with external suppliers in alignment with technical, commercial and compliance frameworks.
Documentation and improvement:
- Create and maintain critical documents such as project plans, needs assessments, technical specifications, meeting minutes, and change request logs following the Tembo internal processes and reporting tools.
- Provide collection, synthesis and documentation of technical information as is appropriate, share knowledge with other Tembo teams, and capture best practices from projects.
- Provide systematic capture, comparison, and analysis of functional and technical needs across partners while formulating possible innovative technical solutions to address divergent partner-specific problems.
- Monitor emerging technologies and industry best practices related to the assigned portfolio
- Synthetise complex input from multiple stakeholders into a structured and clear documentation.
Quality assurance:
- Verify and validate that deliverables meet functional and non-functional requirements and help oversee test plan execution.
- Support QA (Quality Assurance) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) when needed by documenting feedback and ensuring technical deliverables meet quality standards.
ROLE´S SPECIFIC ELEMENTS
- Experience in designing human-centred approaches towards solving everyday problems using technology is a highly desired skill. Attention to details without losing sight of the bigger picture.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience in project management, coordination and organization of multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking and connectivity concepts and methodologies.
- Experience deploying and supporting Microsoft platforms, including Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications and cloud-based environments.
- Experience supporting solutions in low-connectivity, offline, field or decentralized environments will be considered a strong asset.
- Experience in system integration and interoperability within complex environments will be considered a strong asset.
- Familiarity with APIs, databases, web application environments, data protection and information security.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), enterprise system integration and/or working with MSF or other non-profit organizations will be considered an asset.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken) is required. French, Spanish and/or Arabic will be considered assets.
- Project management certification (Agile, PMP, PRINCE, ITIL or equivalent) will be considered an asset.
CONDITIONS
- Position based in one of the following MSF-OCBA Hubs: Bogotá, Dakar, Nairobi, Barcelona, Bilbao, Sevilla or Madrid.
- Final location will be subject to the employability of the preselected candidate (e.g., residency, work permit, etc.).
- For level HQ-3B positions and if the role is based in one of our offices in Spain, the salary will be at €41.137,24. If the role is finally located at one of the OCBA regional hubs, compensation will be subject to the local pay scale applicable to that hub.
- Full-time job.
- Contract duration: until December 2027, with the possibility of renewal.
- Starting date: October 2026.
