General Direction

Do your skills and experience not precisely match the requirements? MSF-OCBA is an organization committed to promoting diversity and equity by providing equal access to professional opportunities. We understand that women, people of colour, indigenous individuals, members of the LGTBI+ community, and other underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply for employment if they don't meet all the requirements. At MSF-OCBA, we strive to create a diverse, inclusive, and genuine workplace. Therefore, if you're interested in this position but your experience doesn't align perfectly with the selection criteria, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the ideal candidate for this or other positions.

GENERAL CONTEXT OF THE POSITION

Médecins Sans Frontières is an international independent medical-humanitarian organization, which offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.

At its core, MSF is a civil society initiative, bringing together individuals committed to assisting other human beings in crisis. Each individual working with MSF does so out of conviction and is ready to uphold the values and principles of MSF. The global MSF movement is built around six operational directorates supported by more than 25 sections and offices worldwide.

Tembo is a learner-centered space that provides impactful and efficient digital learning and development opportunities, adapted for Global MSF Workforce to better contribute to MSF social mission — and aligned with MSF’s learning and organizational strategies.

MAIN PURPOSE

Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of Tembo’s content management strategy and systems, ensuring that learning materials are structured, accurate and aligned with Totara capabilities, with the objective of improving content quality and governance across MSF.

JOB OVERVIEW

The role oversees content audits, technical frameworks, metadata structures, and unifies learning-space configuration and content lifecycle processes across both Tembo and LCMS-managed content. It works closely with DLT specialists, IT, and the LCMS project ensuring learning content is organized, sustainable, and aligned with MSF’s broader digital learning environment.

Role’s specific elements

The role splits its focus equally between Tembo content management and LCMS integration, acting as a bridge between platform strategy and external content management.

1.Tembo content management strategy

  • Owner and supervisor of technical frameworks related to publication, metadata, offline guidelines and content lifecycle across both Tembo and LCMS-managed content.

2. LCMS digital environment maintenance within Tembo

  • Plays a key specialist role in shaping the long-term content architecture for Tembo, ensuring it can sustainably support LCMS integration.

  • Participate in all Tembo transversal initiatives about improving search and indexing mechanisms in the platform.
  • Provide visibility, maintenance and updates regarding Tembo catalogue and communicate them across teams.
  • Audit and assess existing Tembo content, identifying outdated, duplicated, broken or missing materials, and oversee the cleaning and optimization of learning content across the platform.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the Tembo content management framework, defining standards, workflows and guidelines for content creation, update, governance and archiving. The proposed framework will be negotiated and approved by the Working Group and Steering Committee members through the E-learning Manager.
  • Oversee ongoing management of Tembo content in line with the established framework, ensuring consistent application of standards and supporting DLT teams with content-related decision-making.
  • Test and propose tools to support content management, including AI-supported tagging and organisation, providing recommendations to the Digital Content Coordinator. Improve search and content discoverability across Tembo, in collaboration with IT, through optimisation of metadata, search configuration and exploration of emerging solutions such as virtual assistants.
  • Configure and maintain content-related elements of Totara, including learning spaces, course containers, content structures and (where appropriate) catalogue organisation, ensuring alignment with the content strategy.
  • Lead the tagging and metadata strategy to improve content discoverability, reporting accuracy and user experience across Tembo.

2. LCMS digital environment maintenance within Tembo
